The Kelowna Accessibility Leadership Awards celebrate achievements in accessibility, disability inclusion, and barrier-free community development throughout the Central Okanagan.
The awards recognize individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, public institutions, and community champions who have demonstrated leadership in creating accessible environments, programs, services, employment opportunities, and experiences – in short, those who are making a tangible difference in the lives of people with disabilities through advocacy, innovation, collaboration, and action.
By sharing success stories and recognizing innovative practices, the awards help elevate the importance of accessibility while encouraging others to adopt inclusive approaches in their own work and communities.
On May 27th, 2027, we will present awards in the following categories:
Kelowna Accessibility Leadership Award
Recognizes a disabled individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in advancing accessibility and inclusion in Kelowna.
Kelowna Accessibility Leadership Award – Young Person (25 & Under)
Recognizes a young disabled leader (25 and under) making a meaningful impact on accessibility and inclusion in Kelowna.
Kelowna Accessibility Leadership Award – Organization
Recognizes an organization led by or centred on disabled people that has shown outstanding leadership in advancing accessibility and inclusion in Kelowna.
Kelowna Accessible Dining Award
Recognizes a restaurant or food service business in Kelowna that goes above and beyond to welcome and accommodate disabled people.
Kelowna Accessible Venue Award
Recognizes an indoor venue or experience in Kelowna that has made accessibility a priority for disabled people.
Kelowna Accessible Outdoor Experience Award
Recognizes an outdoor attraction or destination in Kelowna or the surrounding area that has worked to make its space welcoming and accessible to disabled people.
Nominations will open in early 2027.
